RR wasn't the first, nor only one to be involved, but they sure got a lot done while he was there. Nixon got us off of the gold standard. This was very necessary in order to print money up the kazoo without restraint. This allowed currencies around the world to "float" rather than be restricted to one exchange rate.
There's a lot more out there. I have an article that is way past due and my editor is screaming at me to finish it. It's about Luis Carriles Posada and how he blew up CU-455, a Cuban airline flight to Havana killing 73 people (largest of its kind in the world at the time).
Working for the CIA, he was arrested and jailed in Venezuela. But the CIA sprang him and he went to Florida. He's free now. On board was Cuban's Fencing team who had just won gold at the Central American games. All 24 members killed.
It's just one more event in the whole. He is a small fry, but worth at least two articles for the magazine, and my boss is a tyrant. We can discuss more going forward.
